Heute habe ich einen Brief an die Premier League geschrieben. Ich weiß, das ist ungefähr so, als hätte ich eine Flaschenpost ins Meer geworfen, aber sehen wir einfach einmal, ob sich daraus etwas ergibt. Der Anlass ist das jedenfalls für mich sehr ärgerliche Detail, dass Sky in Deutschland dazu übergegangen ist, den englischen Kommentar von PL-Matches nicht mehr anzubieten. Auf meine Nachfragen hinsichtlich der nächsten Saison habe ich, gelinde gesagt, unbefriedigende und ausweichende Antworten bekommen, deswegen habe ich einfach einmal an die Organisation gewendet, um deren Produkt es geht, und die ein Interesse daran haben muss, dass es in Deutschland - wie auch überall sonst - optimal erreichbar ist.

Dear PL

I am a fan avidly following the PL in Germany through the broadcasts of local rights holder Sky.

For many years it has been a tradition for Sky to offer all the matches from the PL in two channel broadcasts with the English commentators as a second choice to the German ones who comment from the studio in Germany.

Towards the end of last season Sky has cancelled this service for the moment and the matches are now only with German comment (which is, I might add, considerably less competent than what is offered through the PL world feed)

As I was trying to get further information on what the reasons for this switch might be and whether the usual two channel service will be back for the new season Sky acted very defensively and actually declined rather unfriendly to give any information as to what they intend to offer in the future

I think it is a considerable factor of the attraction of the PL internationally to be able to listen to the established PL commentators who are stars of their own (and justifiably so)

I would definitely feel cut off from that great aspect of PL's product were it not an option anymore next season in Germany

So this is why I am writing directly to the PL being fully aware that this is of minor concern globally speaking, but an important aspect about the presence of the English game in Germany

Does anybody on your side know anything about why Sky Germany may have changed its policy, and does the PL have a take on that? Best regards, Marxelinho

Ich nehme keine Wetten darüber an, ob ich jemals eine Antwort bekommen werde. Aber ich bin optimistisch. Dass ich damit etwas erwirken kann, glaube ich nun aber auch nicht. Ich weiß ja nicht einmal, ob dieses Thema außer für mich und Simon noch für jemanden von Interesse ist. Maybe the both of us are the only ones upset about that.
